Boost Actuator

For the best parts to replace poorly made stock systems, there’s no other choice but to go to Banks.  So you’re looking to replace your 2001-2004 6.6L GM Duramax LB7 boost actuator with one big enough to handle the increased boost from an already installed exhaust system.  The only choice for you is the Banks Power BigHead Wastegate Actuator designed with a big enough head to hold its own against increases in pressure.

Wastegates are held closed by a spring from inside of a pressure actuator.  This pressure actuator is what controls the opening and closing of the wastegate, which then decides how much boost your vehicle is going to get.  Stock models tend to open up too fast to keep a sustainable amount of boost.  Thanks to the BigHead, your boost is going to be both higher than usual as well as sustained for a longer amount of time. The reason stock manufactured wastegates are so inefficient is because during production they tend to cut corners, sacrificing quality for quantity in terms of what’s the cheapest thing they can get away with.  The actuators are generally calibrated for a set amount of boost so if you upgrade your airflow systems then they usually can’t stand up to the increased pressure.

This extra boost being provided by the BigHead will lead to both a smoother acceleration and more pulling power for your vehicle in the middle-range.  These improvements are all due to the BigHead Wastegate Actuator’s doubled compared to stock diaphragm area and spring pressure.  With the bigger head comes a bigger spring which allows for the sustaining of boost pressure.

So you’ve read up on Boost Actuators and what the BigHead can do for your vehicle compared to the stock version, only a few things left to do now.  If you feel satisfied or want to research on your own for more information about the BigHead or other Banks products be sure to check out Banks Power Products online using the search bar located at the left-hand side of the screen or call at 714-848-2170.

Wastegate Actuator

Wastegates bypass exhaust flow around a turbocharger’s turbine section to allow control over a maximum boost.  This wastegate is normally held closed by an internal spring that is all controlled by a pressure actuator connected to manifold pressure.  The actuator will gradually open the wastegate once preset pressure limits are met, which allows the exhaust flow to bypass the turbine thereby regulating your boost pressure.  Stock model actuators are often-times built to sustain specific boost levels and if the turbocharger boost is increased, the stock actuator will undoubtedly not be able to sustain the seat long enough.  These stock models are made to be just big enough, to save money in the manufacturing process; this ultimately sacrifices the part’s performance.

To improve your vehicle’s mid-range boost than you probably need to get an efficient Wastegate Actuator.  So what better place to get that than over at Banks Power, where you can pick yourself up a Banks Power BigHead Wastegate Actuator built for the 2001-2004 6.6L GM Duramax LB7.

The Banks Power BigHead Wastegate Actuator was designed specifically to increase your vehicle’s boost levels, quicker and to sustain that boost for a longer amount of time.  The BigHead was made with twice the diaphragm area and spring pressure of stock model wastegates which helps it keep the valve seated longer.  The stock model wastegates can’t hold against the build-up of turbo-exhaust back-pressure and as a result they will blow the valve’s seat prematurely which lowers your boost pressure significantly. To combat this loss of torque, the BigHead opens up the wastegate at peak and holds it there for a precision controlled boost, giving you a smooth acceleration and a lot more pulling power in the middle-range.

The BigHead Wastegate Actuator goes above and beyond what stock models are capable of so it’s a no brainer to go pick up one for yourself over at Banks Power Products online using the search bar located at the left-hand side of the screen or by calling at 714-848-2170.

Banks Power Package

So this summer your family wants to test out your new 2003-2004 5.9L Dodge Cummins diesel pickup truck with a crew cab long bed configuration without a catalytic converter equipped, by towing the motor home out to the desert for a few weeks.  You’re a bit worried that your truck isn’t going to perform as well as you want so you’ve looked up some aftermarket upgrades.  Well the best solution to this little towing problem is to go ahead and install the Banks Power Dual Exhaust PowerPack System which was built for both work and towing situations.

With great enhances in horsepower and torque through all the different included systems your truck will be able to tow safely all day long.  Included in this package is the Monster Diesel Exhaust either single or dual exit which safely clears the spare tire.  With its 4″ constant diameter stainless-steel system of pipes your truck’s exhaust is going to be flowing up to 122% more efficiently.  The system almost completely gets rid of backpressure while retaining a nice, powerful exhaust sound.

The Banks Ram-Air Intake system is leagues above the stock models with huge increases in airflow.  Thanks to the system’s huge filter area, you’ll get both an increased airflow and you won’t have to clean your air filter as often.  The Ram-Air intake system is unique in that it comes with an exclusive 4 1/2″ flexible bellows that moves along with engine movement; which prevents damage to your other systems.

To further improve your truck’s flow throughout other areas there’s the Techni-Cooler intercooler system and the Monster-Ram.  With the Techni-Cooler’s large 3 1/2″ boost tubes and more efficient aluminum end-tank design, your vehicle will be receiving reductions in boost power loss.  Its thicker core has a 27% increase in flow volume while dramatically increasing the flow of denser air for a more continuous power source.  The Monster-Ram is designed to be larger and more aerodynamic than stock models, which helps improve the flow of oxygen-rich air (dense air) into your truck’s cylinders.  This system instantly delivers torque and enhances your truck’s fuel efficiency.

The included Monster Muffler is constructed with a 4″ straight through diameter flow path, polished stainless-steel design.  This efficient system helps improve the airflow by up to 201% better than the stock versions.  Also included in this package is the BigHead Wastegate Actuator that helps deliver more top-end power.  It does this by keeping the seat sealed long enough to build up a larger boost and the ability to sustain that larger boost longer.  This system also provides your truck with a huge amount of torque straight-away from idle.

To tune and control all these systems, there’s no better diesel tuner combo than the EconoMind Diesel Tuner and Banks iQ.  These two components allow a vast amount of control over your systems and makes it easier than ever.  With a bunch of different modes and settings to adjust, you’ll get the perfect experience you need for your diesel.  So go ahead and check out some more information on this product online at Banks Power Products using the search bar located at the left hand side of the screen or call at 714-848-2170.
